iGABA "Nikolaustreff" | End of Year Casual Networking

Meet fellow members, build new business connections and speak to the iGABA Board on this fantastic evening of networking. You will be greeted with a German BBQ Buffet, a hot beverage with "Schuss" (Hot Chocolate with a Shot, Tea with a Shot; or alcohol free option) and some must-have Christmassy treats. Why do we celebrate Nikolaus ("Saint Nicholas")? 

The 6th of December lets all children's eyes shine in Germany - they know, St Nicholaus has filled their winter boots with little presents, and traditionally also with walnuts and oranges, that they have  carefully cleaned and left in front of the door. After opening the first door of the Advent Calendar on the 1st of December, St Nicholaus Day really puts everyone in the mood of the  estive season. But while the Advent Calendar is a rather modern  evelopment, St Nicholaus goes back centuries and is based on Saint Nicholas, the Bishop of Myra, who was born around 245 C.E. in nowaday's  Turkey. Throughout his life, he became the saint of children, and many  more. To this day, the tradition of the 6th of December is still deeply ingrained in German culture.
